FLY CASTING

The Club is involved with two fly-casting activities - Casting Classes and Tournament Casting. The casting ponds are open to the public and located at the north end of Los Gatos Creek Park and are maintained by Flycasters.

Casting Classes

The Club offers one series of casting lessons to Club members each year, in the early spring. See the calendar for exact dates, or call the Casting Chairperson.  The lessons normally take 6 mornings spread over 3 weekends, and a small fee is charged. Four levels of lessons may be offered: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced and Shooting Head.  No experience is required for Beginning level; some proficiency with the double haul and loop control is expected for the other classes. You may bring your own equipment or use club equipment. Pre registration is required. During the year additional casting classes may be offered.  For specific dates check the club calendar.

The Club participates in tournament fly casting against other clubs at both the state and national levels. Events covered are Trout Fly, Dry Fly, Bass Bug, and Angler Fly Distance (Shooting Head), as well as Plug Casting Accuracy, under the American Casting Association rules. Practice sessions are held at the Casting Ponds. If you are interested in learning more about this activity contact the Tournament Casting Chair.
